i think there’s something about the way endless scrolling / the constant deluge of content keeps us from mulling anything over or letting anything sink in. earlier this morning I read that article about the fbi infiltrating blm protests and then I immediately looked at other stuff because I was on my phone and that’s what you do. and I could have come so close to forgetting about it tbh, like I didn’t get the mental space to let it sink in in a way that I would think about it later, tell people about it, etc. do you know what I mean? I think about this with beautiful simple things too. I see a piece of art or a poem and it moves something in me and I reblog it and keep scrolling. and whatever it creates is dislodged by the next thing and the next. nothing gets a chance to meaningfully change us

Flora Tristan

- wrote “The Worker’s Union” five years before the communist manifesto

- said that the emancipation of women is a prerequisite to the emancipation of the working class

- during the time that she wrote the book, Marx was still a liberal democrat

- Marx did not choose to give Flora any recognition even though he was aware of her activism
